Tamashii Taiko Drummers

Contemporary Japanese Taiko Drumming

Founded in 2007 by passionately inspired taiko fans, Tamashii Taiko Drummers is a drumming troupe based in Auckland, New Zealand. With members of all ages and cultures, Tamashii are known for high-energy performances that mix martial arts movements into their performance style. The group plays a mixture of traditional and contemporary taiko music along with their own compositions.

Tamashii will deliver an explosive 15 minute Taiko performance followed by a workshop/have-a-go
session where members of the audience will have an opportunity to experience the thrill of playing the
giant taiko drums!

Zaktakular

Circus Entertainer

Zaktakular is a professional circus and variety performer from Auckland. For almost 20 years he has astounded audiences on streets and in festivals around the world, with and without invitation. 

A key part of circus and performing arts is play, so Zaktakular will perform a collection of interesting tricks and bits including some of his award winning show. Spinning 8 plates, what could go wrong? Juggling, while balancing, while hula hooping; can it be done? Fire eating? Should it be done?

Asian Network

Tai Chi

 Tai Chi and Shu Huai Sword group was established in 2009 and they are about 40 members around New Zealand. They are supported by TANI (The Asian Network Incorporated), to run free activities for local communities, aiming at improving community members’ physical as well as mental wellbeing. These activities include Qigong, Tai Chi and sword dances.

Brazilian Samba

Unidos de Aotearoa  Brazilian Samba School was born to unite Brazilians in NZ with  local people who love our music  so we can all celebrate Carnival samba,  Rio and São Paulo style! They support singers, musicians and dancers in static and parade  drumming performances  that bring audiences the real  sights and sounds of Brazil to Aotearoa.

Mihi Whakatau

Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, is one of the hapū from the wider Ngāti Whātua iwi. Located in and around the Tāmaki isthmus, in the largest city in Aotearoa, they hold firm to our mana motuhake, history, culture, identity and language.   Their legacy is what has enabled thir strong and everlasting connection to our whenua, their rohe and to each other.

Central Interceptor Discovery Centre

The Watercare Central Interceptor is a super-sized tunnel that is currently being built from Grey Lynn to Māngere Wastewater Treatment Plant. Come along to our Discovery Centre to learn how the tunnel plays a role in improving Auckland’s wastewater system. Discover more about this project through an immersive theatre ride, interactive games & map as well as a VR experience!
